Human Interaction vs. Technology

“We have an entire generation that has access to an addictive numbing chemical called dopamine through social media and cell phones as they are going through the high stress of adolescence.” -Simon Sinek

As a father this really resonated with me as I think about my 12 year old daughter. It reinforced my belief that our family policy of limited phone access is the right decision. Reduced time on cell phones provides time for kids to play. Playtime interactions are how kids learn to problem solve, work on teams, and form deep and lasting relationships. The ability to interact with another human is one of the most important skills we can have. We owe it our children to be more vigilant and provide more opportunities for human interaction.

How are you handling phone and social media access in your home?
