Purchase terms

These cover the sale. The licence that ships inside the product covers the software itself — what you may do with it, and the copy you keep permanently.

Last updated 9 August 2026

1. Who you are buying from

ReferMe LLC, doing business as Abe Nadimi, a Texas limited liability company. Contact: abe@nadimi.com.

2. What you are buying

A subscription to The Modern OS: access to the private repositories its two plugins, ModernOS Core and ModernOS Core Team, are distributed from, and every update published to either while your subscription is active.

The subscription is licensed per person. One subscription covers one named individual. The full grant and its restrictions are in the software licence, published in full so you can read it before you buy. It also ships inside the product.

The Modern OS is a set of plugins for Claude (ModernOS Core and ModernOS Core Team). You need your own Claude account on a paid plan, and a GitHub account, to use it. Neither is included.

3. The copy you keep

If you cancel, the copy already installed on your machine keeps working, permanently. What stops is the update channel — access to the repository, and any version published after your access ends. Nothing is removed from your machine.

This is licence section 3, and these terms do not reduce it.

4. Price, billing and cancellation

Prices are shown at checkout. Monthly subscriptions renew monthly; annual subscriptions renew annually. There is no minimum term — you can cancel at any time, and cancelling stops the next renewal rather than ending the period you have paid for.

The Modern OS is in beta and priced accordingly. Beta pricing rises at general release. If we change the price of a plan you are on, we will email you before it takes effect and it will never apply mid-period.

5. Refunds and your right to change your mind

If the product does not work and we cannot fix it, tell us and we will refund you. We would rather do that than keep money from someone who is not getting value.

If you are a consumer in the EEA or UK, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance purchase. Because access is delivered immediately, we ask you at checkout to confirm that you want it straight away and understand you are giving up that 14-day right for what has been delivered. If you would rather keep the withdrawal period, email us before you buy and we will arrange it.

6. What we expect of each other

From us: we keep the update channel running while you are subscribed, and we answer email at abe@nadimi.com. Support is by email, best effort, usually within a few working days. There is no guaranteed response time on the self-serve plan.

From you: that you use it within the licence — your own subscription, not redistributed, not resold, not used to build a competing product.

7. What this software is, honestly

The Modern OS is early software under active development. It has known bugs and it changes often. It also depends on Claude: Anthropic can change how plugins work — they have more than once — and a change on their side can break or reshape features here. We do not control that.

It creates, renames, moves and deletes files in a workspace you own, and instructs an AI model to do the same. Keeping backups of your workspace is your responsibility. Cloud sync with version history is not a backup.

The counterweight, and it is the point of the design: your workspace is plain markdown in your own drive. If this product stopped existing tomorrow, your files would still open in anything.

8. Your data

Covered in full by the privacy policy. The short version: we hold your email, GitHub username and subscription record; we never see your workspace content, because it never leaves your own storage.

9. The legal bits

These terms and the licence together form the whole agreement. Where they differ, these terms govern price, payment, refunds, withdrawal, support and data handling; the licence governs every right you have in the software and every restriction on it, and it alone sets governing law — Texas, without affecting protections you have under the mandatory consumer law where you live.

If any part of these terms is held unenforceable, it applies in the narrowest enforceable form and the rest is unaffected.

We may change these terms. If a change affects you, we will email you before it takes effect, and the date at the top always says when they last changed.
